ABOUT THE ENGLISH PROGRAM

So... i've been taking english classes at university since this semester (which means the second semester of 2017) and from the bottom of my heart i cannot say i like it... but, at least, due to my english skills, i just had to take English IV and not the whole program. Personally, i've found that the best way to learn and improve at my english aptitudes is the one thing i've been doing since i was a little boy: when i enjoy something that is originally in english, i watch/read/listen to it in english, meaning music, movies, series, etc... and so far it has been really helpful. In fact, i've been able to talk to english speakers with total confidence (not at a perfect level but at least i understand them and they understand me). It's not that i take special care at my english, happens that i just like to see and listen to various things that are in english and i learn the languaje in the process in a natural way... Of course, not everyone has that posibillity for a bunch of reasons, but clearly is a language that has taken a big influence culturally a socially in a global scale, and therefore, it has come necesary to know how to speak it.

I do not like the fact that English has to be obligatory... I understand we are supposed to be comunication experts and so on.. But it's kinda cringy to have a class nearly identical to school english, when you just could be doing other things in order to become a better filmaker or journalist.. It would be great to have a language obligatorily, but one that you could choose: it could be french, italian, japanese, russan, even mapudungun.. but in order to follow the language hegemonic insititution, one must learn how to speak english. I actually like the blog system, although it can be tiring, i've found that is a really easy way to practice periodically your english skills, talking about different subjects... although some topics are just boring to talk about ('m sorry benji :c). So yeah, i think i've been improving since i joined this class.. i still need to upgrade my vocabulary and be quicker at speaking.. but at least i can understand everything i hear and i can make someone to catch what am i trying to say. In general i've found myself really happy with my english skills overall.

I do use english a lot nowdays. The classic spanglish rules the internet and i've been taking some words and using them in my normal life.. it has no real point, it's just funny to say some things in english sometimes.. adding like a zazzy touch to everything. The words in english that i use the most are "Damn", "indeed" and "Shit"... i'm a bit addicted to the last one hahaha.
In conclution... do i like the english program? No but i know it's necessary, although it can improve for the better. Am i happy with my english level so far? absolutely, and i know i'll be getting better and better.. i just need to watch more series and keep listening to Kendrick Lamar hehe.

Bye bye <3
